新たな庭園入り口の安定的な融雪のため、池を設けます。入り口のシンボルツリーとなる左手のカリンと右手のイトスギの根をかわすように形を決めていきます。既存の池との関係性から新しい池には鳥海石の青系のもので淵をつくりました。冬季の融雪時の池の中では、地下水を放水し、対流が起こるよう設計されています。

三代目妻・トクが中央に位置し、池の橋を背にした写真からは、８２年前、当時の様子が伺えます。緑の植栽が多く、飛び石もはっきりと存在感があります。作庭から１００年以上続く現在の庭は、経年経過により石の造作に苔が生え、植栽は要所要所に残り、飛び石には土がかかり馴染んでいます。この状態の何を活かし、何を踏襲していくのか。これからその大切な領域に踏み込んでいきます。このように私たちは伝統と革新の２つの構造を取り入れ、新旧和洋の融合する、次世代型の庭園を生み出したいと考えております。
