かつての慶事で、多くの客人に対して使われたものだ。

蓋の裏には明治三十七年、甲辰（きのえたつ）という年号が記してあった。
中には、箱を制作した大工の名を入れたものもあり、

洗朱色の食器は椀に限らず数種あり、言い伝えによれば、
二代目と三代目のときに一通り取り揃えたものだという。
椀のすべてに家紋が描かれ、装飾の細かさを伺い知る。
