ヤマモの水神庭園のお堂の前の丘には、かつてマツの木がありました。その場所は、大切なお客様を迎え入れる座敷からも、新たな庭園入り口からも、いずれからも庭園の中央に見え、シンボルとして存在感ある位置。いつしかシンボルのマツは枯れ、その切り株が残っておりました。三年前、再び庭園を着手するにあたり、きれいに取り除き、その時からマツに代わる庭園のシンボルツリーを探しておりました。
